Maryam
Maryam Okeyo Eya first learned about Bright Minds through our Girls Club, where even as a participant her leadership skills shone. She has since joined the Bright Minds team as Community Relations Manager for her home village of Mararaba Udege and leads the Girls Club that she once participated in, teaching leadership skills and reproductive health to girls who have been told that their primary role in life is to become a wife and stay home. She has overseen the drilling of eight borehole wells in her community and is a case manager to many of our sponsored children. As a trusted member of Mararaba Udege, Maryam provides services to families who might not otherwise entrust their children in the care of a nonprofit organization. In her free time Maryam enjoys playing cards.
